Inspiration for Fat Potato
So we did a thing! Tanya Capria & I wrote a book called Fat Potato & the Tiny Tater Trail: City Life. It's what we hope to be the first book of a long successful series. We are so very excited to share our creation with you!
In the first book of the series, we introduce you to Fat Potato, Bones & Tubby-2-Tons. Fat Potato is a fun-loving, adventurous pooch. Bones is a nervous nelly and Tubby-2-Tons just loves to nap!
Each character in the book came from real life inspiration. So here's a little backstory of the character Fat Potato a.k.a. Gracie May.
Gracie May was rescued from a bad situation by a kind, loving person, Nicole Bremer. She trusted Theodore Lange & I to adopt Gracie May and give her the loving home she deserved. So thank you Nicole for trusting us and bringing Gracie May into our lives. Ted & I learned real fast that she loves to escape fenced yards, dig realllllly large holes & will do almost anything for food! Which is how she got her svelte fat potato shape! What we also realized was how impatient she was even when it came to pooping. Who has time to stop & poop? Not Gracie! ...she just keeps on walking...leaving a tiny tater trail behind her! And BOOM...Fat Potato & the tiny tater trail ideas started!
The character Bones is based on our real life Roxy. Roxy was also a rescue that we adopted from a local rescue in 2015. She had a rough start to life and didn't trust many people. Everything would make her nervous or scared. She would cower from cars when we were on walks. Run away from shoes and hats. But over the years, she has started trusting humans more and more and she is the best dog ever!
Tubby-2-Tons is based on our amazing bulldog, London. London was the leader of the pack and the household protector. She loved car rides and walks on the beach and tried to eat the ocean waves. London passed away in 2022, but she will live on thru our Fat Potato books.
